I have decided to forgo any New Year’s resolutions this year. I always make two or three and never follow through on any of them. For example? In years past I’ve always said “This year I’m going to finish my book.” Then I start two more and never touch the current WIP for the next six months. Or I’ll say “I’m going to do yoga everyday/ twice a week.” I haven’t done any yoga in the last year- I’m not counting the three or four poses on the Wii. That wasn’t even a twenty minute workout in total.
There are things I would like to accomplish this next year, but I think labeling them “resolutions” is to doom myself to failure. I would like to finish a book. I may need help deciding which one… I would love to find a pen pal who’s up for corresponding in an Austenian style (I know! Crazy fun, right?), complete with sealing wax. I really want to get back into yoga. I want my house to stay clean. I want to buy a Macbook (almost there! Just a few hundred more… and they need to be in stock).
I’m just not sure that resolutions work.
